Marques de Caceres was founded in 1970 by Henri Forner, whose family has been in the wine industry for generations. The Bodega (wine cellar in Spanish) was built on what was considered by Henri Forner as the finest viticultural area in Spain - Cenicero in Rioja Alta.
The title Marques de Caceres was granted to the Bodega as they truly reflected the honourable tradition that it represents.
With the famous Michel Rolland as its consultant, Marques de Caceres uses Bordeaux-style techniques and methods for production. The French winemaking expertise is applied to native Spanish grapes from the best vineyards to produce one of the finest modern Riojas (wines) in the market with an unmistaken, highly recommended personality.
This young bottle of Verdejo from the Rueda D.O. has a clear tint of pale lemon. Fresh and clean on the palate, it has characteristics of tropical fruits - passionfruit, pinapple and white peach. Hints of grapefruit can be savoured, along with citrus, crisp green fruits and notes of hibiscus. The Verdejo has a long finish and is very refreshing with medium acidity.
This young wine is especially enjoyable on a warm day with a level of fruitiness in between the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Ideal for drinking now!
The fresh and fruity wine will do well easily with fresh seafood dishes. Prime examples include oysters, yellow tuna sashimi, light tempura prawns and grilled barramundi.
