The name Isole e Olena was conceived in the 1950s when two adjoining estates, “Isole” and “Olena”, were purchased by the De Marchi family and combined to form one.
Isole was founded as an agricultural farm in the 1700s and is now the center of production for the Isole e Olena estate, which grows olives in addition to all of the grapes used in its wine production.
Perched atop the hillsides of Chianti, Isole e Olena lays claim to some of the most prized vineyards in the region. Proprietor and winemaker, Paolo De Marchi, is considered a pioneer in introducing foreign grapes to the area, such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.
The Sangiovese and Canaiolo grown on the Isole e Olena estate cover 290 hectares in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills between Florence and Siena.
Rich and explosive in the glass, the 2013 Chianti Classico is a beauty. Dark red stone fruits flesh out in a round, sensual wine built on pure texture. Aromas of blueberry and chocolate character follow through to a full body with fine tannins and a tangy finish. Fresh and balanced with a delicious fruit/acid balance. Drink now.
